Fun, cheap, but could be better, September 23, 2008
First the good points. It's easy to play, even if you don't know what you're doing (you just BET or FOLD at each point as the cards are revealed). You start at $200 and win if you reach $400 and lose if you reach $0. The graffics are simple but effective and although the DVD is designed for 4:3 they look fine in widescreen. And it's a DVD game which isn't yet another quiz!
Now the bad bits. You can't choose how much you bet, so the maximum you can make in a round is $40 (the same you can lose). The only sound during the game is the cards being dealt (couldn't they add a cheer if you won a hand and a groan if you lost). No instructions, so if you don't know what hands beat what other hands you might struggle (though the DVD works out who wins, and you would probably pick it up quite fast) You can only have one player playing against the one DVD player (who is unseen)
All in all though it's a fun game, and it's cheap. Though not for serious poker players who might find it's a bit basic for them.
